Dear Parents,
 
We are currently looking for volunteers for the 2010-11 school year.  PTA committees provide a valuable opportunity for you to become involved in issues and activities that directly affect your child at our Middle School.   We have a place for everyone, whether your time commitment can be large or small, and we encourage sixth grade parents to jump right in! Please read the brief committee descriptions and check off those in which you are interested and SUBMIT the form.

 Please check all volunteer opportunities you are interested in:Book Fair - Assist at fall and summer book fairs
Book Fair  Budget Study - Report to PTA on Scarsdale school budget issues/proposal
Budget Study  Clothing Sales - Assist at October sale of school clothing during the lunch periods
Clothing Sales  Community Service - Suggest activities and/or assist in events throught the year such as the post-Halloween Candy Drive
Community Service  Eighth Grade Breakfast - Help with "graduation" breakfast for 8th graders
Eighth Grade Breakfast  Finance - Assist PTA Treasurer with audit of PTA finances. Typically this is done once per year after PTA closes its books for the year

Handbook - Assist in producing handbook and facilitating the summer mailing
Handbook  Health and Nutirition Committee - Assist School Nurse with various activities including coordinating parent volunteers for Lice Check - ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES ONLY! Parent volunteers DO NOT perform lice checks, they help to keep track of students who

Hospitality - Help coordinate refreshments and/or help to set up for Open Houses and Parent Coffees in September and October.

Library Volunteers - Volunteer at SMS library
Library Volunteers  Membership/Directory - Assist with proofing the directory
Membership/Directory  Multicultural Families - Plan events with and for multicultural families
Multicultural Families  Pizza Sales - Volunteer to supervise sales on "Pizza Days"
Pizza Days  Publicity - Assist in pubicizing SMS events throughout the year
Publicity  Recreation Nights - Chaperone Friday activity nights (3- 6th gr. & 1-7th gr) with Rec.Dept.
Recreation Nights  Safety - Work with Administration/village to maintain a safe school environment
Safety  School Store - Volunteer at SMS school store
School Store  Speech Contest - Assist with dinner for judges at annual speech contest in March ( not judging)
Speech Contest  Sports Swap - Volunteer at annual PT Council sports swap
Sports Swap  Staff Recognition Luncheon - Assist with annual luncheon for staff
Staff Recognition Luncheon  Student Organization Liaison - Be a representative of the PTA at the S.O. meetings to see where the PTA could be of assistance to the S.O. Help S.O. transmit information of upcoming activities to parents.
